What does "Phishing" mean?? How come my computer says "phishing protection on?"?

Is it supposed to be on?What does "Phishing" mean?? How come my computer says "phishing protection on?"?
Phishing is when an email or website, or a combination of both, seek to deceive you into thinking they are something that they are not. For example you may receive an email appearing to be from a bank you do business with, advising that your online account access has been compromised and urging you to click a link to "reset your password." This usually takes you to a genuine looking webpage which appears to be for your bank, however it asks for personal information and actually just transmits the data right to a potential identity thief.

Having phishing protection on is a good thing :)
In computing, phishing is a form of social engineering, characterised by attempts to fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy person or business in an apparently official electronic communication, such as an email or an instant message. The term phishing arises from the use of increasingly sophisticated lures to *fish* for users financial information and passwords.

so it is safe to on ur phishing protection in order to protect your data.

Justme is right; it's a good thing that you have antiphishing protection on. It means that when you surf the web you will be warned if the site you are visiting is known to be a bad site that contains viruses, spyware or sends spam. What does "Phishing" mean?? How come my computer says "phishing protection on?"?
It is good to have 'phising' on so that your computer checks out all sites for you as there are sites out there that even if you go to that site, they will be able to access all personal info you have on your computer
