What is the point of a phishing filter?

and do i need one? What is the point of a phishing filter?
The point of a phishing filter is to help prevent phishing. Phishing is a way criminals get your personal information and committ identity theft. Phishing is basically getting your personal info under false pretenses. They make a fake page look just like a real page, like ebay for example, you give them your credit card number, and they max them out.

Usually its from far away from the US.
It helps block programs that can steal your passwords and infoWhat is the point of a phishing filter?
it makes it so that other people can't get onto your account and steal your passwords and information. i dont have one and ive never had a problem, just be careful with what websites you trust.
some fraudsters have set up sites that look genuine like a bank or ebay and we go in and give the site personal details and next minute the money in your bank account has gone it helps you know its a genuine siteWhat is the point of a phishing filter?
It filters websites and checks their authentication so that your personal information isn't stolen, sold or hacked. It makes sure that when you visit a website they don't obtain any information about you so you are hacked or spammed.
It stops the net accidentally catching dolfins?
