Phishing email: will clicking on a link in an email give you a virus?

I accidentally clicked on a link in an email that led to me to a page that required me to enter my email. I immediately closed the web page, but has the damage already been done by clicking on the link? If so, what can I do to check (on both a macbook and a windows laptop)?Phishing email: will clicking on a link in an email give you a virus?
If the site contained any javascript exploit code, then it's possible. But, if you're not having any errors/problems, it may have just been an email phishing site.

For Windows (I'm not the Mac guy), watch for dialog boxes, error messages or strange behavior when you restart the computer. Good idea to update your antivirus program and scan the computer before shutting it down.

It's still recommended to avoid clicking them to stay protected. It's more advisable not to read any email if you don't certain what kind of information inside.Phishing email: will clicking on a link in an email give you a virus?
you are probably ok.

phishing is more about getting information than distributing viruses.

just run your virus scan if you want to be reassured.
Not likely. These sites just want your information.
