What is the difference between spam and phishing?

Spam is just trying to get you to click a link or whatever to go buy some crap product or medicine, usually of terrible quality from unknown sources who rip you off.



Phishing is pretending to be someone else (ebay, paypal, yahoo, your bank, etc) in an effort to trick you into revealing confidential information like name, address, credit card details, or passwords. They use this info for identity theft and ripping you off the best they can.What is the difference between spam and phishing?
spam is just ads. phishing is an attempt to gather your information. things like your mothers maiden name and your first pet. mom's name is a thing a bank would ask you. the pet name is something you use to "remember" your online passwords.
