I received an e-mail that let me know that I was eligible for a 500,000 dollar check for something. This e-mail claims that I would be getting this directly from Yahoo. I would like to inform Yahoo about this in an effort to let Yahoo to do what they feel free to do in the legal world.How to contact Yahoo about a phishing scam that is using Yahoo to target Yahoo account holders?
It can be difficult to find the right webpage for reporting fraudulent emails. I need to write all this down for future reference just for myself too.
Here is the Yahoo Webpage:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/securit鈥?/a>
Where they say:
===== quote begin:
If you receive one of these emails, mark it as spam, including any messages that originate from a yahoo.com email address. These emails are usually sent in bulk, and are rarely targeted at a specific individual. Yahoo cannot investigate these scams; reporting these emails as spam is the most effective measure you can take as it will help ensure additional copies are not delivered.
===== quote end
Now if the email originated from a Yahoo member, there is also another webpage for reporting that member:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/ya鈥?/a>
Yahoo! Mail Abuse Form
But - some criminals have impersonated Yahoo email so there is no guarantee the abuse will stop.
You can also report the email to the federal government at the Internet Crime Complaint Center:
